New Revivals Commercials
I’m thrilled to share a recent project that wrapped at the end of 2025: a series of commercials for Revivals Thrift Stores. Working on these spots was a blast from start to finish — the client, the concept, and especially our on-screen talent all came together in a way that felt fresh, fun, and genuinely social.
Why this project stood out
Timing and purpose: Revivals is all about community, sustainability, and the joy of finding something unexpected. That mission made it easy to shape spots that felt real instead of scripted. We wanted commercials that looked and sounded like something you’d actually see and share on social platforms, not just traditional ad breaks.
Authentic voice: The brief called for authenticity first. The goal was to make people smile, spark curiosity about thrift shopping, and invite viewers into the Revivals experience — not talk at them.
Enter Jim — the thrift influencer Jim was the secret sauce. He’s a thrift influencer with a natural comedic timing and a knack for making thrift finds feel like discoveries you’d tell your best friend about. On camera, he’s hilarious without trying too hard. He riffed, improvised, and brought ideas that elevated every script. The best moments came when we let him play off the setting and react honestly to what he found in the racks.
Keeping it authentically social We intentionally steered away from polished, staged commercial tropes. Instead we:
Emphasized short-form rhythms: quick setups, punchy payoffs, and room for a comedic beat that lands in a 15–30 second timeframe.
Used handheld and candid framing at times to give the spots a peer-to-peer, “caught on camera” feel.
Let spontaneous moments breathe: a surprised reaction, an off-the-cuff joke from Jim, or a genuine interaction with a Revivals staffer — those unscripted bits made the pieces feel shareable.
Editing prioritized rhythm and tone. We kept cuts tight, leaned into Jim’s timing, and used music choices that matched a playful, upbeat vibe without overpowering the dialog.
The combination of an authentic store environment, a client who trusted the creative direction, and Jim’s natural presence made these commercials feel like something you’d actually share with a friend. They weren’t just trying to sell — they invited viewers into a vibe: the thrill of the find, the humor in surprises, and the community around secondhand treasures.
This Revivals series reminded me how much impact you get when you prioritize authenticity, trust your talent, and leave space for real moments. Jim made the job easy and endlessly fun — I’m already excited for the next time our paths cross in a thrift store aisle.
